Since 1986, Dr. Ramsay has provided personalized, full-scope eye care as a board-certified optometric physician. Now, as an independent optometrist, he offers his expertise on specific weekends at Clear View Optix.
Dr. William Ramsay attended Edison College and Memphis State University for undergraduate courses. Later, he received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where he received several student achievement awards. Dr. Ramsay also received clinical training at the Kenner Army Hospital in Fort Lee, VA, and at the Eye Center of Florida in Fort Myers, FL.
Always looking to receive advanced education, Dr. Ramsay received specialty training for vision shaping treatment (VST) as an ortho-k specialist. He is also recognized as a certified DreamLens specialist, a certified Prio prescribing specialist for computer vision syndrome, a certified HydroOptix (scuba diving mask) Dec-Pro specialist, a certified SynergEyes hybrid contact lens specialist, and a certified Zen scleral contact lens specialist. Dr. Ramsay has participated as a research study investigator for Johnson & Johnson.
Dr. Ramsay also enjoys sharing his knowledge with his colleagues. He is a published author of dozens of medical/ocular-related and practice management articles. Dr. Ramsay is a sponsored speaker on many ophthalmic-related subjects. He was a member of the Johnson & Johnson/Vistakon Speaker’s Bureau for several years. He also provides educational eye disease seminars to the public.
Dr. Ramsay has been a consultant to eyeMaginations, Inc., a software development company, and has stayed involved with his passion for eye care. He has also held an editorial board appointment for Inside EyeCare Technology Online magazine and Eyecare Technology magazine.
Dr. Ramsay’s private practice in Fort Myers, FL, was 1 of 6 businesses in SW Florida and was nominated for the US Chamber of Commerce’s Blue Chip Enterprise Initiative, which seeks out and recognizes exemplary businesses across America. His office was featured in 20/20 Magazine’s eye care industry article, “Blueprints for Success.”
On a personal note, Dr. Ramsay has been a Florida resident since 1969. He lives with his wife of 30+ years and 2 sons on their horse farm in Central Florida. They care for their 12-or-so rescued dogs, 8 horses, and 20+ chickens.
Following his grandfather’s example, Dr. Ramsay is a 32nd Degree Freemason with several years in leadership positions and is followed by his 2 Freemason sons. And if you ever want to talk about what happens in October, Dr. Ramsay is also a sponsored national speaker for the Halloween industry and the producer of the Southeast Halloween Enthusiast Convention (SEHEC). He was even featured in the October 2019 issue of Ocala’s Good Life Magazine.
